As the season comes to an end for the Shaymen of Halifax Town I leave you with some with thoughts as I followed the team from here in Portland
Well the long season has come to the end for the Shaymen of Halifax Town with a 1 to 0 lost at Gravesend. In the 72nd minute of play Liam Hatch drilled right-footed shot that hit under the cross bar from 18 yards out. This was a much needed win for Gravesend as they faced regulation from Conference with a loss today.
I usually give links where you can find game reports but I noticed that many did not have much to say today. It seems everyone was done with the season and ready to move on to other things. I am sure the next four months will be busy for the managers to regroup their teams for the upcoming season and for the fans it is time to enjoy the free to enjoy the weather.
For myself I enjoyed following Halifax Town from here in Portland Oregon in the USA. The ups and downs made season one to remember. The excitement of Halifax being in the top five looking at a chance of being in the playoffs The best was the club getting out of administration. This was all made possible by Sean McAuley who kept in contact with me as he left Portland for Halifax Town last fall. I ask him if he thought fans from their would like to link up like we had and he thought it would be a good idea. Gavin Butler (Bubba) was my first contact and it progressed from their.
Gavin and I came up with The Over the Pond site but the fans from both clubs never really got into it. I have been keeping the site up and posting the scores from Halifax and news about the Timbers from here. My post are mostly about our supporters group the Timbers Army as the other sites here in Portland do a better job on news about the team and the players. It would be nice for someone in Halifax Town to put up the post relating to the club as from here I can only put up what I read in reports.
I would like to thank Sean McAuley for the Jersey the players signed. Thanks to Chris Hallwood for getting me a Halifax Town shirt. I want to thank Simmon Denton and JimLockwood of The Shaymen Down South for the Fanzines and Badges plus all the information that I posted on the Over the Pond site and a special thanks to Gavin Butler for keep me informed from Halifax Town.
As your season draws to a close our’s starts May 1st with a match here at home against Seattle. I hope some of you follow us in you off season and give your opinions of what you read on our message board. All the links to the Timber is on the Over the Pond site.
Once again thanks for the great season and I will be looking forward in following you again next season.
Cheers
Timbers Drumman Kurt Schubothe
