Des Walker to retire - End of an era.

Saturday's clash with the Baggies could be the last chance any of us get to witness veteran defender Desmond Walker in action. I for one believe that if this is tru he at least deserves a testimonial for his efforts.

We could be nearing the end of an era shortly as it seems veteran defender, and out and out Forest legend Des Walker could be coming to the close of his playing carerr.

"But I am talking to him today and I have got something in mind for him, but it is not a playing role.

"Maybe, it will be something on the coaching side.

"I have to sit down and listen to what he has to say.

"It may be that he has business ventures to go into or he might go to Notts County.

"I have got two promising centre-halves in Wes Morgan and Michael Dawson and he would find it difficult to get in on a regular basis.

"But that doesn't mean he would not have a part to play in developing the two kids."

If we are to be chasing promotion next season then, to be honest, I really don't think Big Des will be up for it. He's not the same player that he used to be, and his fitness levels are begining to drop. Maybe he should retire now, and be remembered as a great player, rather than an oldie that was no longer good enough to qualify to wear the garibaldi top.
