Nomads Sign Local Star

Connah's Quay Nomads have clinched the signing of experienced midfielder Gareth Owen from Doncaster. The 31 year old local lad will follow in his fathers footsteps, who once led the Deesiders to Welsh Cup glory. CARLOS EDWARDS

OWEN FOLLOWING FATHER'S FOOTSTEPS

Connah's Quay Nomads have clinched the signing of ex-Wrexham star Gareth Owen.

The 31 year old central midfielder signs from Doncaster Rovers, whom Owen captained to promotion from the Nationwide Conference. 

Owen, whose father Don won the Welsh Cup with the Deesiders in 1952, brings a wealth of experience to the Nomads midfield and will link up with several ex-Wrexham team-mates at the Deeside Stadium.

Club secretary, Bobby Hunter, told the 'Evening Leader', 'This is a tremendous scoop for us as a club as far as I am concerned. Gareth is a local lad with ties to the club and I am sure that he will be a great addition.'
