Shock As Rhyl Replace Bickerstaff With Strong

Rhyl have announced the shock dismissal of manager Allan Bickerstaff, despite leading the Belle Vue outfit to the Welsh Premier title last season.

The man handed the head job on the North Wales coast is current player, Greg Strong, who will take the role of player-manager.

The announcement of Strong as manager is perhaps as surprising as the departure of Bickerstaff, given that current midfielder, and Welsh Premier Player of the Season, Gareth Owen, has previous managerial experience with Airbus UK.

With a reduced playing budget for the 2009-10 season, it is sure to be a baptism of fire for Strong and it will be interesting to see if he is able to emulate the success of last season.
