Bangor City 1 - 1 Rhyl FC - Bangor City won 4-2 on Penalties

Welsh Cup Holders Bangor City played 105 minutes of Welsh Cup 4th Round football with ten men, but progressed through to the Quarter Finals at the expense of their rivals Rhyl. Neil Roberts' penalty hit the bar, Paul Smith saved from Luke Holden and Bangor's Stuart Cook hit the winner, as Nev Powell's unbeaten Welsh Cup run as Bangor Boss continued.

Bangor looked like they may have won it in normal time, until Rhyl defender Greg Strong equalised from a set-piece with four minutes left. Ex-Rhyl striker Chris Sharp, who was outstanding for City, had given the hosts the lead after a goalless First Half. Sharp was taken off with five minutes to go, after running himself into the Ground in search for a winner.

It looked like it wouldn't be Bangor's day when their skipper Marc Limbert - the ex-Rhyl midfielder - was sent off in the first quarter of an hour by Referee Mark Whitby for violent conduct. This, after the match kicked-off fifteen minutes late on Police Advice, because of congestion at the Turnstiles.

The New Saints FC 2-3 Carmarthen Town FC
Former Winners, The New Saints were dumped out by Carmarthen Town at Park Hall in an exciting battle in Oswestry. The hosts took the lead through Jamie Wood following a good build-up by Matt Berkeley, but just two minutes later midfielder Sasha Walters scored a belter for the Old Gold.

On 35 minutes, Kris Thomas went on an excellent run, before laying off to Craig Hughes, who finished well to give the 2007 Champions the lead. Hughes then scored his second on 67 minutes for the visitors and although Andy Cale's side pulled one back through Berkeley, Deryn Brace's team held on following a tense finish.

AFC Llwydcoed 0-3 Aberystwyth Town FC
The Seasiders booked their place in the Quarter Final and ended the Cup Dreams of the lowest ranked side left in the Competition. Striker Graham Evans scored a hat-trick for Aberystwyth against the minnows of Welsh League Division 3. The win for Brian Coyne's side was their first in six after a poor run of League and League Cup form.

Bridgend Town FC 4-0 Lex XI FC
It was a convincing win for the Welsh League side as they ended the hopes of Wrexham-based outfit Lex XI at Treforest. Karl Jenkins scored a First-Half brace against their Cymru Alliance opponents at Treforest before Harrison Kingston extended the lead on 65 minutes to make it 3-0. Ex-Cwmbran and Newtown midfielder Dale Raven sealed the win with a 90th minute penalty.

Holyhead Hotspurs FC 1-1 Newport YMCA - Newport YMCA won 6-5 on Pens
Defender Dan Chamerberlain scored an own goal on his YMCA debut as the Cymru Alliance side took the lead at the Holyhead Stadium. Ex-Bangor defender Jonathan Newell also scored an own-goal on 62 minutes though to bring the teams level. It went to penalties and Gareth Wesson saved one for YMCA and Louis Walsh scored the winner for the Gwent side.

Prestatyn Town FC 5-3 Goytre United FC After Extra-Time, 3-3 at Full Time
Prestatyn made another stunning Welsh Cup comeback to shatter Goytre's Welsh Cup dreams, just as they did against Bala in the previous Round. A shock looked to be on the cards at Bastion Road as the Welsh Premier side trailed by two goals in the Second Half to their Welsh League opponents. Daniel Kingdom scored the opener for the visitors, but Dan Evans equalised for the hosts. Ex-Carmarthen midfielder Dale Price then gave Goytre the lead again before Danny Thomas (63') made it 3-1 for the Port Talbot-based side. The Seasiders continued to battle though and pulled one back through a Karl Evans Own-Goal and midfielder Mike Parker scored on 81' to send it to Extra-Time. Parker was again the hero in added time, when he scored twice on 99' and 118' to take the Welsh Premier side through with a classy hat-trick.

Fridays games 

Port Talbot Town stunned Llanelli at the GenQuip Stadium on Friday to book their place in Saturday's Welsh Cup Quarter-Final Draw. Mark Jones' excellent unbeaten run in his second stint at the club continued, with his striker Martin Rose scoring what proved to be the winner on 45 minutes.

Last Years' Runners-Up Llanelli, fell behind when Liam McCreesh - a Welsh Cup Runner-Up for Afan Lido in 2007 when Jones led Carmarthen to Cup Glory - struck the opener. The Reds were on level terms though when Mark Pritchard equalised on 33 minutes, but Rose proved to be the winner for the Steelmen on the stroke of Half-Time. Jones has extremely fond memories of this Competition and with two of Bangor, Rhyl, TNS and Carmarthen Town also sure of getting knocked-out today, he is sure to be hoping of emulating 2007 as he said;

"The Welsh Cup has a lot of fantastic memories for me personally...None more so than lifting the cup with Carmarthen in 2007, something I would love to repeat here at Port Talbot."

In the other game on Friday evening, Airbus UK Broughton booked their first ever Quarter Final place with a good 2-1 win over fellow Principality Welsh Premier side, NEWI Cefn Druids. The Wingmakers had to come from behind though, but Danny Desormeaux was their hero with the winner with just seven minutes remaining.

Midfielder Geraint Lewis put the Ancients ahead on 27 minutes, but the hosts responded just four minutes later through a penalty from Full-Back Ryan Edwards. Attacking midfielder Desormeaux sealed the win for Craig Harrison's men with his third goal of the competition.
