Spurs news: No Go Transfer

Now the season is over we can expect the normal media frenzy of transfer whispers, some of which are welcome, some not. Its normal for Spurs to attract more transfer gossip than most clubs... which can cause a few issues; firstly fans expectations, remember the Ronaldo story which seemed to run and run and of late David Beckham? These stories only left us disappointed and misguided, something which will be a source of some amusement to fans from other clubs, but alas we keep going back for more and more each time the transfer window is about to open.

Secondly the debate of who could we / should we sign is always a welcome one but we should maybe be a little more cautious in running after rumours. Last week I heard from a contact in Spain that on a local Spanish radio station ran a story saying there has been reports of a €20 Mill bid from Barca for Ledley King, whist the money would be welcome and a chance for a more natural leader to take the team would be presented you cant help but think hey is this media hype ? If so this kind of talk fuelled by fans gossip could unsettle a player whist a very useful tool I think that when its fuelled by our fans on our own players then its a bit of a let down. If you live by the sword you die by the sword and the clubs policy of saying nothing to the media is a good thing in itself, it
does give the fans and media free rein to make stuff up, you only have to look at most football "news" sites to see that.

So lets look at the facts of what happened so far this close season, Davies has left, 3 new players to arrive shortly, one of which looks like he will be loaned back to he's old club. The press are now reporting that we are after Andy Johnson from Palace, something I don't believe for a moment, when you dig into the goals he has scored most are Pens, great if you are in the final of the CL after extra time (both of which wont be happening for a while) but for me he isnt a Spurs player, the last time we got a striker from Palace it was in the shape of one Chris Armstrong dont want to go there again thanks very much. In short this season more than most, I will be ignoring the press transfer talk, it will just leave us disappointed but also and more importantly excited if Frank does manage to pull anything out of the hat, who saw the Defoe transfer coming a mile off ? nobody and maybe one of the best signings we have made of recent years.

Lets look forward to a better season in 05/06 and the current new boys plus who ever comes in will take us to the next level, one thing we can be sure on,expect some experience to arrive. . I have just heard . . . . . oh forget it.

COME ON YOU SPURS
