The latest twist in the bizaare Rebrov saga is looked at here. Is it an evil stab at Sergei? Or is it ENIC once again proving their 'miser' tag? Will he or won't he go?! Thats the question that needs to be asked when talking about Sergei Rebrov. Rebrov has been linked with moves to both Fulham and Fenerbanche this month, both deals collapsing. Granted the first was Rebrov's own doing, unsure of his status at the club and concerned about the future of the team.

The second deal brings a more worrying idea to my head. Rebrov, according to the media, was all ready to be signed and sealed to Fenerbanche. The estimated fee was round about 2million, and I'm sure Mr Rebrov was all set to put his Spurs 'nightmare' behind him. But wait, Fenerbanche pull out of the deal at the last minute. Why you ask yourself, well if you listen to the media they claim Spurs audaciously DOUBLED the transfer fee agreed between the two clubs.

Sir Les was always told he could not go unless he had a replacement signed and sealed, as of yet nothing. Therefore this is where my sense of anxiety comes from. If you think about it logiclly, 7 days to go till the transfer window Rebrov and Les gone leaving Spurs with about 3million (750k given to Glenn, the 400k for Clem and the 2milish from Rebrov, nothing from Les) and a foward line of Sheringham, Iversen and Keane.

The doubling of the Rebrov fee, to 4million, would leave Spurs with near enough 5million. A figure closer to that demmanded from Bolton for Mike Ricketts. Now granted this talk on Spurs finances is all circumstantial but it fits in place. Possibly we are to believe the truth on ENIC? Are they really backing Hoddle? I can't see the point in doubling the fee from Rebrov for any reason aside Glenn trying to get as much money as he can from 'external sources'. Does Glenn really want to be left with 3million and only 3 strikers? Or is it just another cruel twist on knife to Sergei from Hod? The second I feel too far fetched however.

Granted the board have spent money on Spurs, but its no good spending a bit then just stopping. Its like going into work and saying to your boss 'Sorry mate worked for a few hours today can't be arsed to do anymore.' (although I'm sure some of you have tried it). If ENIC really want Spurs to progress as they say, then I, along with several thousand others, are yet to be convinced.
