Cheltenham have drawn a home tie in the newly named Carling cup and will face ex Division 2 rivals QPR at Whaddon Road on the 12th August. Although the competition was taken seriously last season - Liverpool and Man Utd contested the final in Cardiff - fans will have to come up with a new 'nickname' for the competition as the old one of 'The Worthless Cup' no longer makes sense after Carling secured the sponsorship deal for the League Cup.

The Robins drew with QPR at Whaddon Road last year due to a second half equaliser from Martin Devaney, however the Robins were outclassed at Loftus Road going down 4-1 after taking an early lead via Martin Devaney, he is a player I think they will watch closely!

Personally I don't think this is the draw we wanted, we are playing a team on paper that is better than us but I dont particualrly think a big crowd will be drawn to the game. However on the night we could pull off a result and progress into the next round and draw a bigger club. This competition will obviously be useful for are finances after are relegation so we should be looking to progress as far as possible.
