Neil Kilkenny earned his second England under 20 cap last night and produced an impressive display as Russia were beaten 2-0 at the Valley. This is proving that the onloan winger from birmingham is really a class act Neil Kilkenny earned his second England under 20 cap last night and produced an impressive display as Russia were beaten 2-0 at the Valley.
The 19-year-old Blues starlet, currently on a season-long loan at Oldham Athletic, played for 65 minutes and brought a creative edge to John Peacock's midfield.
With England already leading courtesy of Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha's early strike, Kilkenny set up two good chances to double the advantage.
On 15 minutes he played a great through ball to Oldham team mate Lee Croft but he was denied by a save from Russia keeper Alexandre Budakov.
In the second half Kilkenny created another golden opportunity, this time for Cherno Samba from Spanish side Cadiz, but he failed to hit the target.
Kilkenny was eventually replaced by Charlton youngster Stacy Long, to the delight of the locals amongst the 10,426 crowd.
But it was to be another Addicks youngster who stole the show.
Charlton midfielder Lloyd Sam came on for the final quarter hour and took just two minutes to make a memorable impression.
Latching on to a cross from fellow substitute Bradley Wright-Phillips, Sam brought the ball down before arrowing a fantastic half-volley into the far corner to complete the scoring.

Darren Carter in action for the under 20's - but he is still waiting for his first England under 21 cap
There wasn't so much to cheer for Kilkenny's Blues team mate Darren Carter who was also on duty for the Three Lions last night.
The midfielder was included in the England under-21 squad for the second time in yesterday's friendly against Holland.
But the 21-year-old is yet to enjoy a taste of the action at that level for his country as he remained on the bench throughout the 2-1 defeat to the Dutch.
Bristol City striker Leroy Lita scored a late consolation for Peter Taylor's side in front of a capacity crowd at Derby's Pride Park stadium.
