Forest winger Kris Commons, rumoured to be the subject of widespread interest in the January transfer window, has landed the League One player of the month award for December. Commons claimed the award from the Professional Footballer’s Association after topping a supporter poll.
The news will come as a surprise to some Forest supporters after Commons, 24, had a reasonably average month by his own standards.
The left-footed midfielder, who has played a number of games as a forward so far this term, has been linked with a move to Premiership Bolton.
His contract expires at the end of the current season.
Meanwhile young midfielder Felix Bastians is to be reunited with former coach Ian ‘Charlie’ McParland after signing for neighbours Notts County in a one month loan deal.
Bastians has spent most of his time out on loan since a flurry of first team appearances at the age of 17.
After spells at Northwich Victoria and Gillingham last season, Bastians has made 13 appearances for League Two side Chesterfield since August.
He is likely to go straight into the Notts County squad to face Stockport County at Meadow Lane tomorrow.
There is considerable suggestion that the German midfielder will be offered the chance to agree a permanent deal with the Magpies.
