Are Wigan interested in Murphy?

Murphy

There has been stories in the papers today linking Wigan with a move for striker Jamie Murphy, is there any credibility to the stories.

The papers have mentioned the interest in Murphy from Wigan, but if you dig beneath the story there doesn’t appear to be much depth to them.

There are no quotes from Stuart McCall or Roberto Martinez, apart to say there has been no contact between the two! How does this link Wigan with Murphy then?

It would appear that it was enough Wigan was one of the 10 clubs who watched the game with Inverness at the weekend. They also now have need for a striker, and cash to go with it, having sold Charles N’Zogbia to Aston Villa.

Is all of this enough to link Murphy with Wigan?

If it is I hope the club hold out for the correct transfer fee for the striker, remember Wigan paid £600000 for Killie’s Connor Sammon! Someone who is half the player Murphy is. They also paid £1.25 million for James McCarthy, again someone who was not the finished article.

If Murphy is to go before the end of the transfer window, the correct fee is essential, as is the timely lining up of a replacement.
