Everton manager David Moyes watched his side go down 1-0 to Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday and admitted after the game that he was very disappointed as he really felt his side would be picking up maximum points before the game.

The defeat was made even worse by the fact that Louis Saha had the chance to equalise from the penalty spot but failed.

"I'd expect to come to Burnley and win, so I'm disappointed," Moyes told the club's official website.

"We were poor in the opening 20 minutes or so. I thought we improved as the game went on, but still not enough to cause them enough problems.

"I didn't think we were in control of the game that much but we were in the last 30 minutes or so.

"Moyes was not looking for excuses as he praised the efforts of Owen Coyle's men, though he did feel that his side could have been sharper in the opposition's half.

"It's a bad time to come here, right at the start of the season, because they have a great deal of momentum coming up from the Championship," the Scotsman added.

 "They have a lot of energy in their team at this present time, which they took from the Manchester United game.

"We had chances today but we didn't connect with them or we miskicked them. We didn't take the chances we had."
