Inside the rise of Burnley's Nick Pope: From non-league to being wanted by Chelsea Clarets stopper has climbed to the top tier of English football

Nick Pope could only watch as the shot, straight from kick off, sailed over his head and into the net from 50 yards.

Five seconds in, one goal down.

For a teenage keeper then playing for West Suffolk College it was a moment to forget.

Fortunately for Pope his team recovered from the early setback to go on and win comfortably and meant the ribbing the keeper took from teammates and manager was somewhat easier to take.

In charge of the team that day was Richard Wilkins, who was also boss at Bury Town where current Burnley No.1 Pope was turning out for the reserves.
