Burnley 1 Everton 0

Jeff Hendrick continued his resurgence with another winning goal against Everton to send the Clarets into the international break on a real high

Hendrick claimed the Clarets’ goal of the season two years ago with the decisive effort at Goodison Park.

And the in-form midfielder repeated the trick as he struck with another classy finish to propel Burnley into fourth place in the table on the back of a four-match unbeaten run and back-to-back Turf Moor wins.

These two sides had never drawn a Premier League game before in 10 previous meetings.

And after Everton defender Seamus Coleman had been sent off for a second bookable offence 11 minutes into the second half, Sean Dyche’s men made sure it would stay that way to extend their excellent start to the season.

The Toffees didn’t make it easy as they tried to halt their slide in the opposite direction.

But Hendrick proved the difference as he underlined the Clarets’ growing belief by volleying home his second big goal in four games to put Burnley back among the big boys.

As anticipated, Jack Cork missed only his second Premier League game as a Claret as a result of the fractured shoulder blade he suffered at Aston Villa.

A re-call for Johann Berg Gudmundsson meant a continuation of the 4-4-2 formation – rather than the line-up that had finished the 2-2 draw at Villa Park – as Hendrick tucked inside to fill Cork’s role.

Great 3 points boys, 4th in the table at the moment, I will take that however short it is for.
Surprised at Everton being so physical. Hope Pieters has only a minor knock. Onwards and upwards.(Sm152)

Burnley squad.............................big heart and will to win just like FC. 3 points is 3 points. Horses for courses in as much as appropriate tactics.

Well done to all. As I am not in the loop, what is the situation regarding Brady and Defour?

Defour has gone back to Belgium Brady is fit and well and on the bench. The half hour SKY highlights made this look a cracking game. The first half was not, the second half was. Once it went to 10 versus 11 it was a very even game. Great goal that won it, a training ground routine. Bad as the first half was we had chances, so did they, once we scored we never really looked in trouble but then you still sit chewing nails. A very fine steak and ale pie on the way home. What would owld Bob Lord think now?

I would like to think that he is pleased that in these times we have against all odds achieved a little of what he dreamed possible when he took the helm. He did make us believe we, little old Burnley, could do it and showed us the way. We lost our way for a while but we never lost faith. It is in our DNA.
Thanks for info on Defour and Brady.

Everton a team that cost around 30 million a man ,made to look average against a hard working Clarets side.. Great result after last seasons debacle ..
