Burnley 2 Norwich City 0

Chris Wood bounced back to goal-scoring form as Sean Dyche celebrated another Turf Moor landmark with three precious points.

Dyche’s 313th game in charge of the Clarets saw him move up a place to fourth in the all-time list of Burnley managers.

Only the legendary Harry Potts supercedes him in the post-War era and fittingly Dyche oversaw a win that lifted his side into the Premier League’s top seven with a first victory since the opening day of the season.

The Clarets have since drawn twice away from home in a solid start. But having left it late to take a point at Brighton a week ago, they went back up a level on home turf to cast aside a Norwich side which had produced the result of the season in beating Manchester City last weekend.

Wood led the way with both goals as he opened his account for the season. And while the striker will have to wait for his first hat-trick in a Burnley shirt, he and his team-mates did more than enough in a highly impressive performance to get their campaign firmly back in top gear.

The two sides hadn’t met in the top flight at Turf Moor since September 1976, when Peter Noble scored all four goals for the Clarets in a 4-4 draw.

With Wood striking twice in the opening quarter of an hour he might have fancied repeating that remarkable feat as the Clarets made a flying start.

Norwich might have had the measure of the champions but couldn’t deal with the Clarets’ high tempo approach.

“The second goal wouldn’t come”🤔

Looked a very entertaining game, could have been a goal fest, both sides could have done better imo, but Burnley did look the better of the two on MOTD. Also looked like a pen, even the guys on SkY Sports said that at the time. I’m still not a fan of VAR, not just that incident but the Spurs goal that was chopped off the day.👎

Shame that Ashley didn't find the net with that volley. Good win.

Won this in the first 20 minutes, Clarets played some superb football in that time and scored 2 good goals, McNeil was awesome providing Wood with fantastic balls. Sean had a plan and it worked really well, we were at them direct from the start, they couldn't get out of their own area.

Second half was not as good although we were never in any real danger, as expected Norwich came forward a bit more with one shot hitting the post. Barnes should definitely have had a penalty as it proved on MOTD, I couldn't judge it at the ground as I was too far away.

Very pleased with this performance, the lads worked their socks off and it was no wonder one or two were looking a bit tired in the second half.

Great 3 points, well done boys. (Sm152)
