At last, we have taken a big step in getting revenge over the Argies after our 1-0 win in today's World Cup match.

In the last World Cup, the Argentines knocked us out through a penalty shoot out. And who can forget the 1986 World Cup in which the first ever goal was scored by God. Or at least his hand did, which sent us crashing out of the quarter finals.

But today, at last our boys gave us something to cheer about against the South Americans. After last weeks poor performance against the Swedes everyone needed a boost, and that is exactly what we got.

The passing was crisp, the front men were dangerous and the defence was simply outstanding.

To be fair, the score could and maybe should have been bigger. Owen had hit the post moments before he won the penalty in which Beckham scored the goal that won the match.

In the second half Sheringham nearly finished off the move of the match. A 20 pass move was finished with Teddy executing a superb volley which took a good save by the keeper to keep the score to 1-0.

Scholes also hit a great volley from outside the area but unfortunately it was direct at the keeper who punched the ball clear.

Seaman was only really tested once which was from a header directed straight at him. Although he did not make a save because he didn't know too much about it, his positioning was spot on and the ball ended up being cleared.

England lost Owen Hargreaves early on, but I felt this ended up being a blessing.

Sinclair came on for Hargreaves and took the position on the left wing which meant Scholes could move to his more renowned position in the middle.

Sinclair was impressive and could well appear from the beginning in the next match against Nigeria.

Butt who had the defensive midfield role was brilliant covering most parts of the pitch and offered a lot of help to the defence.

What can be said about the defence. Danny Mills made up for his mistake last Sunday with a good performance in which the whole defence was as solid as brick houses.

Next Wednesday is where we now turn our attention to. Nigeria, who can not qualify, stand between England and a place in the 2nd stage.

Argentina are now struggling to qualify, and if they don't this could well turn England into one of the favourites to lift the World Cup.
