Crewe Alexandra through to next round of the JPT
Crewe Alexandra are through to the next round of the JPT following a 4-2 away victory over Cheshire rivals Macclesfield after a superb display of attacking football.
The game started bizarrely with 3 own goals and a penalty. Former Crewe man Colin Daniel put the ball into his own net in the 4th minute but Macclesfield quickly equalised when Alex defender Patrick Ada also scored at the wrong end. Lee Bell scored from the spot on the 29th minute before Ada again scored an own goal to leave the scores level at 2-2.
The second half was an all together different affair with Crewe always in charge at Moss Road. The Silkmen couldn't handle Joel Grant and Byron 'Dangerous' Moore's skill and pace as Crewe showed the sort of attacking force that scored five on Saturday. David Artell scored his 4th of the season just after the break and Grant completed the rout with a fine goal on 59 minutes.
Elsewhere in the JPT, Port Vale went out of the trophy on penalties.
