John Boyle was fined by the SFA this afternoon after his involvement in the fracas with Craig Brown last month.
The judgement read, “The committee also found Mr Boyle guilty of misconduct by behaving in an inappropriate and inflammatory manner towards the opposing team's club official. The committee decided that a fine of £2500 be imposed on Mr Boyle and that he be severely censured and warned as to his future conduct.
“Both cases were referred to the Disciplinary Committee in accordance with Article 82(3) as the incident was not witnessed (and therefore not reported) by any of the match officials.”
Brown himself was given a censure and warning to his future behaviour.
I am not sure why Boyle was given a fine, when the aggressor in the whole incident was Brown who pulled at the Chairman’s jacket and tried to drag him back, after having a few words whispered in his ear!
In the end Boyle won’t be too fussed (although the club will appealing the decision) with the fine being loose change, and knowing he will be walking away from the club next season anyway.
