Murphy celebrates

Motherwell took three well deserved points from a trip to Pittodrie thanks to goals from Jeffers and Murphy.

Stuart McCall made three changes from the side hammered by Rangers at the weekend and this had the desired effect as his side bounced back to win at Pittodrie.

We made the worst possible start by losing a goal in the third minute, The winger collected Steven Smith's cross just inside the penalty box and flicked the ball over Stephen Craigan's head before thumping the ball across keeper Darren Randolph and in off the post.

Motherwell settled after this and Francis Jeffers was showing some excellent touches before he equalised in 13 minutes with an excellent cushioned header, from a Craigan cross

The first half was an entertaining affair with both sides having a go at each other with Motherwell looking excellent on the counter attack.

The second half had an explosive start, with Paul Hartley shown a red card after retaliating following a tough tackle from Keith Lasley, Lasley was also booked along with Langfield and Craigan.

Motherwell were not to be denied and took the lead with 20 minutes remaining when Murphy shrugged of a tug from the sluggish Nikola Vujadinovic and scuffed an angled shot beyond Langfield, who looked slow to react. 

This was a much needed win for Stuart McCall's men at the start of three games the manager said would shape the team's season. Four points from St. Mirren and Hamilton in the next two games at Fir Park could set us up for a run at the top six again.

Well bounce back in style at Pittodrie
