Motherwell and Inverness fought out a goalless draw at Fir Park this afternoon but the real winner was the driving rain and strong wind.
Motherwell did start reasonably well and forced an early corner which was cleared at the front post.
Sadly that was about it for the Well fans in the first half as Inverness took over. They should’ve taken the lead on the 32nd minute but Motherwell had Darren Randolph to thank for keep the scoreline level.
Adam Rooney was sent clear but the big keeper pulled off a full length save to his left. From the corner he was then forced to make point blank saves from Rooney and then Shinnie.
Just before that the visitors had a great shout for a penalty when Forbes was pulled up for handling. From where I was sitting it looked just inside the box.
We started the better side in the second half and Murphy had a long range shot that the keeper Esson saved easily enough. Just after that Humphrey left Shinnie for dead and his cross beat everyone in the box to allow Tokely to hoof clear.
Humphrey was now causing problems and his next cross caught Jennings by surprise and he got the ball stuck in his feet six yards out.
We were almost made to pay for it when a Hutchinson error, his only one in the game, let Richie Foran burst clear but he sliced his shot wide of the post.
In the end I don’t think either of the sides can complain as a draw was about the right result BUT Motherwell do need bodies in ASAP.
