Motherwell fans have suffered a tough six weeks, manager has departed, three first team members have left and haven’t won since early November

It has truly been a rough spell for Motherwell fans after an exciting start to the season, which saw their side play in Europe, reach third in the SPL and a CIS Cup semi final.

Many now feel the season is in a bit of a tail spin since they thumped four goals past St. Johnstone on November 10th. They have only taken two points from 21 in the weeks since.

This has seen them slip to sixth, level on points with Dundee United but only ahead of the Arabs on goal difference but the Tannadice club have two games in hand.

Rather than looking forward to a top six finish it is beginning to look as though it may be a relegation fight for the Steelmen.

New manager Stuart McCall has had his side ripped to bits with three players out already, Gow, Blackman (sneaking up to Aberdeen) and Fitzpatrick. There could be more out in the coming weeks with Cardiff watching Mark Reynolds last night, and Casagolda looking for a move back south.

He has not been able to bring anyone in, even losing out on one target to Conference side Fleetwood.

There is also a feeling that this also seems to have happened with no one at the club facing up to any of it. This is why I say it is time for John Boyle to act, he needs to provide support to his new manager, there is no point in bringing in someone new and not backing him up.

He needs to start by sorting out an assistant for him, and then helping add to the squad before the end of the month, and the CIS Cup semi.

If there is no direction from the top I can see a survival fight this season, and I am certain we will survive but things could be tough….
