Motherwell's third away win in the SPL this season saw them move up to third in the table.
Craig Brown stuck with the same team as last week against Aberdeen at Fir Park with Steven Hammell missing out again. On the bench we had young Ross McKinnon who is the nephew of Well Legend Rob McKinnon.
The opening stages were poor with neither side getting into their stride, and it took until the 30th minute for the first real chance to come along. A Chris Templeton cross picked out Kevin Kyle but he could only head over from 10 yards out.
Motherwell then created two great chances before the break, a sweeping move involving Humphrey, Blackman and Lasley set up Murphy but his bending shot struck the post. The young striker then hit a great 25 yard effort but his effort was tipped away by Kello in the Hearts goal.
The start of the second half saw Motherwell on the front foot and were unlucky again whe another shot from Murphy was beaten away by Kello. In an effort to get back into the game Hearts made a double sub in 57 minutes but only found themselves a goal behind a minute later.
Tom Hateley sent Chris Humphrey free on the right with a terrific cross field pass and the wingers cross picked out Nick Blackman who sent a brilliant left foot side foot volley past Kello from six yards out.
On 69 minutes Lasley had a great strike saved by Kello with Sutton looking to have been denied on the rebound by the Hearts keeper but the ref only gave a goal kick much to the bemusement of the Well forwards.
A minute later it was 2-0 and once again Humphrey was the provider, he outpaced Jonsson and was patient on before picking out John Sutton who had the easiest of chances to slot the ball home from close range.
Hearts went through the game without having a shot on target, allowing Motherwell to see the game out comfortably enough.
