Three players have been called up for International duty next week, with skipper Stephen Craigan likely to win his 50th cap for Northern Ireland.

Craigan has been called into the Northern Ireland squad for a Euro Championship qualifier away to Slovenia on Friday 3rd Sept.

Crags already has 49 caps to date, and will become the first Motherwell player to win his 50th cap while at the club although it will only be 48 with Motherwell as the first two came during his spell with Partick Thistle.

This pushes him even furhter ahead of anyone else as our most capped player, and hopefully if he stays fit he get to fifty while at Motherwell in the qualifiers in October.

Stephen is still in the middle of a very successful Testimonial year, after serving more than 10 years at the club in his two spells, playing more than 300 games.

Closer to home two of our younger players have been picked for Scotland Under 21s, with Jamie Murphy and Steven Saunders included in Billy Stark's squad to take on Belarus and Austria.

Stirker Jamie Murphy is in line for his 10th Under 21 cap which would put him only 1 behind Stevie Hammell as our fourth most capped player at this level.

He has started the season well and has already become our top scorer in Europe this season, beating Stevie Kirk's record.

Saunders has established himself in the Well squad this season, and could win his second cap after coming on as a sub in the last game against Sweden earlier this month.
