It was good news from Fir Park today with the news that Tom Hateley has signed on for three years keeping him at the club until the summer of 2013.
Hateley was another of the excellent signings by former Manager Jim Gannon, snapping him up from Reading just before the start of the League campaign.
The youngster made such an impact that despite the changes in management he played in every game from then on, all 38 League games and our League and Scottish Cup ties.
It was also testament to his versatility that he played as a holding midfielder, right back and wide right on midfield and his level of performance never dropped.
There was a doubt that he may not sign on given his statement's at the end of the season that he wanted the pitch fixed before he re-signed. Maybe he has been on facebook and had a look at the pictures of the pitch with lush grass on it.
This means we have now only lost four players from last season's team with Ruddy and Jutkiewicz returning to Everton, Jim O'Brien having moved to Barnsley and Giles Coke still to decide his future.
This will leave Craig Brown and Archie Knox some thinking to do on how they plan to replace these four during the summer.
