A shocking decision by the linesman denied Motherwell all three points after Tom Hateley's sensational first half free kick had opened the scoring.
Motherwell dominated the first half and were deservedly in the lead on 28 minutes when Tom Hateley bent a free kick high into McGregor's top right hand corner from 30 yards out.
At the start of the second it looked as though Well had doubled their lead, a Stephen Craigan shot was heading in at the far post when Ross Forbes tapped it home. Despite both being clearly being onside the referee put his flag up to the frustration of all in Claret and Amber.
This let Rangers off the hook and one poor decision from Mark Reynolds gave Boyd the sniff at goal he needed. As the defender hesitated Boyd stepped in to slam home from close range.
In the end we held on for a draw that was the least we deserved in a tough match that saw both sides battle hard in difficult conditions.
Well boss Craig Brown said after the game, "I have always been an advocate of not criticising officials, so I won't do that. I‘ve seen TV evidence that seems to show that it was okay, the officials have a job to do and they do it honestly but unfortunately we didn't get the goal that I think would have finished the game at that stage, we were very comfortable at that stage."
