Taking in comments from the media you would think the Fir Park surface was like a scene from the Somme - is it really that bad??
Much has been written and spoken about in the media since Sunday's game with Celtic about the state of the Fir Park (no such fuss after the Hamilton game, surprisingly) but is it really that bad.
There is no hiding from the fact the surface is poor and not ideal for passing football but Sunday's game was as good as any other I saw that week, with the others played on "perfect" surfaces.
The Old Firm game on grass was rubbish, as was our Cup tie with St. Mirren, I also took in Falkirk v Hamilton and it was also poor on grass. Therefore it doesn't appear to be hampering the qulaity of game played on it.
I also saw a few more "poor" pitches on Sportscene, with Pittodrie looking poor again and Easter Rd wasn't much better than Fir Park when we last visited a few weeks back.
While it is well known we took the cheap option in the summer when it came to repairs, and it looks as though it will now cost us £250 k this summer to fix, we are lucky not to have been hammered more by the SPL.
Hopefully John Boyle will do the correct thing this summer and give us a decent pitch to play on before we move to a new stadium at Ravenscraig in the future.
