Update on news from Fir Park

Bob Malcolm

It looks as though Bob Malcolm could be out of this week's game with Hibs, while a Centre half could finally be on the way in. We also have two players recognised for their consistent performances by being called up for International duty next week in World Cup qualifiers.

Our paper thin squad took a bit of a blow on Monday when Bob Malcolm was forced to limp out of the reserves 3-1 win over Aberdeen with a knee injury.

It doesn't appear to be that serious but with Stephen Hughes already out with his hamstring injury, this leaves our midfield a bit short ahead of the Hibs game on Saturday.

The good news is we could finally be close to signing a centre back, with the Daily Express reporting we have given a trial to Slovakian international defender Maros Klimpl with a view to giving him a chance to win a move to Fir Park from Danish side Midtjylland.

The 28 year old has won 19 Caps for Slovakia, scoring one goal. He was left out of his side's UEFA Cup tie with Manchester City last week and therefore would be available to play in the competition for Well.

Hopefully McGhee can tie something up before the transfer window closes on Monday.

Two players have been called up for International duty, with David Clarkson is in George Burley's squad for the World Cup qualifiers with Iceland and Macedonia. Stephen Craigan has once again in his regular place in the Northern Ireland squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
