What is happening with our squad?

Bob Malcolm

Despite a constant procession of trialists we have still failed to add to our squad over the close season and go into the opening game with a thread bare squad. The only person to come in is Bob Malcolm but he was part of the squad last season any way – therefore he hardly freshens up the squad.  We go into the Hearts game with only one goalie, Graeme Smith, could this mean Colin Meldrum on the bench - not ideal cover! We have had at least two trialists in the summer and none have been deemed good enough.

At the back we are missing long term injury victim Brian McLean meaning we have only four fit defenders. Again we have had a couple of trialists in the summer. Even with Seyfo Soley playing well against Bradford he was let go for being lazy!

Midfield appears to be the least of our worries with about eight players fighting for four places. But again we have had Mamam on trial and you could argue O'Brien as well without anyone actually coming in. Bob Malcolm has signed but he is hardly new given his spell on loan last season.

Motherwells Bob Malcolm is held back by manager Mark McGhee after her was given a red card during th

Up front we have two experienced men in Clarkson and Porter, with only teenagers Murphy and Archdeacon backing them up. Sadly there have been no trialists in this area and it looks as though what we have is what we'll have.

Is it time to panic or should we trust in McGhee??
