FORMER Irish International, Roy Keane, may be fined and/or banned by the English FA, and will probably be sued by Norwegian international, Alf Inge Haaland over revelations in his book that the tackle on Haaland he performed about 18 months ago was an act of retaliation.

Keane’s book, which is the autobiography ghost-written for him by former RTÉ commentator Éamon Dunphy, has revealed a lot of other startling things. Keane admitted that he had to fight an alcohol addiction that almost ruined his career, and that he has a deep-set hatred for Haaland over a injury Keane sustained in 1997. He wrote in his book that “I’d waited long enough. I f**ked him hard. The ball was there, I think. Take that you c**t. And don’t ever stand over me again sneering about fake injuries” The ‘Sneering’ he refers to are the comments Haaland made to Keane while he was lying on the ground after the incident in 1997.

Haaland, who has not started a 1st-team fixture for his current club, Manchester City, since the incident, told the Irish Daily Mirror today “Maybe I will go and see if I can find any of Keane’s stud’s inside my knee. I have only played a few games since the tackle. Am I going to sue him? You can make your minds up about that”

Some estimates at Keane’s fine range from €150,000-200,000, and a ban for a few matches. However, some media sources suggest he may be banned from playing soccer in England again, due to the serious consequences of what he has done to Haalands career.
