Everton have rubbished claims from Niko Kranjcar that he turned his back on Everton before deciding to Join Tottenham Hotspur.
The Croatia international moved from Portsmouth to Spurs on transfer deadline day but suggested that a move to Goodison Park was also in the offering.
Manager David Moyes told his club's official website: "Not at any point did anyone from the club contact Portsmouth to express an interest in Niko Kranjcar.
"In Steven Pienaar and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov we already have players who provide excellent cover in his chosen position.
"Everton chairman Bill Kenwright added: "I couldn't believe my eyes when I read what Kranjcar is alleged to have said.
"We made no approach either to Portsmouth or to the player's representatives.
"Maybe he was talking about Everton Chile!"
