The Saddlers went into their away game against an impressive Stockport County on the back of a 2-1 defeat against Lincoln City, which was shown live on Sky Sports. Their rivals Stockport were in great form, winning the last seven games without conceding a goal in the process.

Walsall manager Richard Money made three changes to the side that lost against The Imps with Anthony Gerrard, Scott Dann and Par Cederqvist coming into the side for Craig Pead, Mark Wright who were dropped to the bench and Kris Taylor who missed out on a place in the 16-man squad.  This meant that The Saddlers would line up with three strikers on the pitch.

Anthony Elding scored County's match winning goal for a second successive game, taking his tally to five goals in his last seven appearances for Stockport.  The former Boston striker scored a 51st minute volley to earn Jim Gannon's in form side an eighth successive victory, equalling an 80 year club record.

On-loan ‘keeper Wayne Hennessey from The Saddlers rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers also wrote himself into the Edgeley Park history books, as he notched an eighth consecutive clean sheet to equal Harry Hardy's record established in 1921.

This was disappointing for The Saddlers and will be hoping to get back to winning ways against Barnet at Bescot Stadium, Saturday where they will be hoping to introduce a couple of new faces into the squad.
