3. Daniel Fox

The Saddlers completed the signing of left-sided defender, Daniel Fox on a two-year deal in June 2005 from Everton, where he progressed through there highly regarded youth system to sign his first professional contract with the club in May 2004 after impressed while playing for The Toffees' youth team.

 

The 19 year-old became a regular for the Everton reserve's during the 2004/05 season and managed to earn himself a place on the bench for Everton's Premiership clash with Aston Villa where the youngster was an unused substitute. He was then allowed to spend the final few months of the campaign at on loan at Scottish 2nd division side, Stanraer, where he got some much needed competitive first-team experience under his belt and help the Scottish side secure the runners-up spot during the course of 11 appearances.

 

When Everton released the youngster at the end 2004/05 season, he caught the eye of The Saddlers' coaching staff with some superb performances for the second-string at the Merseyside outfit, he was keen to move to Walsall and link up with his former Everton team-mate Anthony Gerrard.

 

He made an impressive start to life in the football league with some fine display's during his first season with the Walsall and the Liverpool born defender made himself a regular starter for The Saddlers' in the 2005/06 season.
