An open play game with many chances and too many penalties given away played on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The Warriors defended well despite many Exeter plays in their own 22. This game saw Ed Lewsey play his first full match in nearly a year, against his former club, and score a try to rub it in.

Within the first minute Nick Defty was called upon to attempt a conversion from the left hand side after Sam Leungi Wai had gone over for a try.  Later a cross kick by Nick D from inside his own half bounced just too far and went dead for a scrum back. Exeter had a number of nice plays but were unable to take advantage of them and were kept away from the try line. Even a penalty almost in front of the posts was missed by Exeter.  Warriors, with Tom Arscott completing the move, showed Exeter how to play the ball along the line with a try as a reward.  Ten minutes later Tom thought he was about to get his second but a late whistle called them back to the 22 for a scrum to Exeter. In the last play of the half Nick Defty kicked across the pitch this time bouncing into touch next to the corner flag, but there was no time to take the throw in. Despite the Warriors giving away penalty after penalty the score at half time was Warriors 10 Exeter 0.

The excitement started just six minutes of the half when Altan Ozdimer who was running with the ball from inside his own half kicked forward but was unable to make the distance before Exeter cleared their own line. Just after that the pressure on the their defence paid off with a try for Nic Rouse which was converted by Nick Defty close to the touchline. On the hour Exeter broke through several missed tackles to put their first points on the board. With 15 minutes to go Regardt Van Eyk came on for Matias and Ed Lewsey moved to the position he used to play at Exeter, scrum half.  Within in a few minutes Ed scored his first try for Plymouth under the posts which Nat Saumi converted as Nick had already been replaced by this time.  Exeter put five more points on the board after a penalty was awarded for obstruction just 5 metres out.  The match finished 24 to 10, a well deserved win for the warriors, but they must reduce the number of penalties they leak.

The match was well worth the £2 entry fee and was watched by around 200 spectators who seemed to enjoy the entertainment. The next planned match for Warriors according the Official website is Monday week away to Launceston.  An evening kick-off with flood lights!
