Georgina starts for England A

Georgina Rozario played 65 minutes in her debut in the England A v France A at St Albans on Sunday. England came out  winners 21 - 7.

Georgina has been playing for Plymouth Albion Ladies this season and has played at lower levels in an England shirt having represented her country for under 19 and England students.

Georgina, who started her rugby career at the age of 14 playing for Avon under 16s, is a student at St Marks and St Johns Plymouth and  has been a key player in the Albion team this season. She is well respected amongst her team mates and coach, Tristian Forster. Tristan said after the match "Georgie had a really solid game. Her passing was good and her distribution was excellent but her best part of her game was her work in defence communicating well to all."

England A head coach Amanda Bennett, when asked about Georgina before the match said " She is fresh young talent, one of the new faces in the England Elite squad. Her timing is perfect and she has done well to get into the elite squad and be selected to start  today. Georgina has been given the chance to play at this level after a number of the England squad who played in last years world cup made the decision to hang up their boots.

England are building a squad towards the next world cup in 2010 and Georgina would not be in the squad now if it was not thought that she had the potential to represent England in 2010.

She is good at sniping and developing her pass and works well with the forwards.  She has shown us some good things and there is going to be more to come. We would not be investing in her now if we did not think that she has a long term future."

Sunday's match is an annual fixture that France A have never won. Their development sides have been getting better year on year and the matches have been getting harder to win.

The next match for England A is at Clifton on Friday night at 7pm against the Nomads, the female equivalent of the Barbarians and will be full of ex international players from all over the world. There will also be  members of last years world cup squad. The squad should be announced soon and if Georgina gets selected she will be playing for her second A cap on  her 21st birthday.
