England and Liverpool star Nick Barmby could be a Leeds United player as soon as Thursday if all goes to plan.

Barmby 28, who has failed to push his way back into Gerard Houllier's plans at Liverpool after coming back from injury looks all set for Elland Road.

The England International is due to discuss personal terms with the Yorkshire outfit and all goes well Barmby will be a Leeds player within the next 24 hours.

Leeds boss Terry Venables said: "He's having a medical back at the training ground so it's close to being sorted out."
