The League Cup has proved to be a great success this week, with shocks galore despite the seeding.

The League Cup inScotlandhas often been seen as the poor relation of the three trophies up here. This week it has had a bit of a revival with some amazing results with three SPL clubs being knocked out by SFL Clubs.

There were wins for East Fife overAberdeen,Falkirkagainst Rangers and also Ayr United seeing off Hearts.

The trophy has been seeded for a number of years now to ensure the bigger clubs make it to the latter stages but thankfully the smaller clubs have decided to break the mould, and show the big boys there is life outside the SPL.

There was also a cracking Cup tie atFirParkbetween two SPL side when Motherwell and Hibs went at it hammer and tongs in an old fashioned cup tie, which took penalties to separate the two sides.

Despite this the tie chosen as the live game was Ross County v Celtic with the BBC chasing the shock as a result of the Scottish Cup semi 17 months ago, when we all know lightning rarely strikes twice.

It would have been great if they had shown some imagination and gone toAberdeen, Motherwell, Ayr orFalkirk.

The draw for the Quarter Finals was made today;

St Mirren v Ayr United

Dundee United vFalkirk

Hibs v Celtic

Kilmarnock vEast Fife

With ties to be played on 25th and 26th October
