Chester have completed the signing of Ryan Lowe from Shrewsbury, and are set to make a move for promising Liverpool goalkeeper, Paul Harrison before the close of the transfer window in two days time. Two new players are expected to join the Chester squad in time for the their next game at Mansfield on Good Friday.
One player definitely in the team is Ryan Lowe, a target of Ian Rush earlier in the season. The Shrewsbury attacking winger has signed for the blues from rivals Shrewsbury on a two-year-contract, as Rush seeks to add to a slightly depleted squad before the closing of the newly enforced Transfer Window on March 24th.
Lowe, whose contract was due to expire in the summer at Gay Meadow, was the subject of a Chester City enquiry more recently in the season, however the offer of 5K plus Andy Harris was branded as ‘ridiculous’ by Shrews gaffer Gary Peters, and the bid was turned down.
However, Chester have successfully renewed their interest and Steven Vaughan is delighted to have him on board.
"He plays in a position we have been looking for," said Vaughan. "That of winger-cum-striker.
"He has a proven goalscoring pedigree and we are delighted to have got him."
The move comes on the back of earlier comments by Vaughan that the club were in negotiation over a deal to bring a proven goal-scorer to the club.
Lowe has amassed 34 goals in his 4-and-a-half years at Shrewsbury, however he has struggled under Gary Peters since he replaced Jimmy Quinn, and has found himself in just 21 starting line ups, with another 15 appearances from the bench.

Chester face another race to beat the transfer deadline as they attempt to sign another product of the Liverpool youth system. Following the pre-season capture of right-wing-back Steven Vaughan, and more recently Robbie Foy, Chester have made a move for promising goalkeeper Paul Harrison. The youngster has yet to play at senior level, but has appeared on the bench in Rafael Benitez’s squad, and also went on a one-month loan to Leeds as part of the deal which took Scott Carson to Merseyside.
However he has struggled to break into either team. His move to Leeds was a disappointment after Kevin Blackwell opted against dropping the in-form Neil Sullivan, and he returned to Liverpool as 4th choice ‘Keeper, behind Jerzy Dudek, Chris Kirkland and Scott Carson.
Said City chairman Steve Vaughan, "I have spoken to Paul's agent and hopefully we can conclude a mutually beneficial deal prior to Thursday's deadline.
"Paul has been a regular in the Liverpool reserve side, and he is a player whom we would like to be a part of our future."
