An interview with Scott Jones, administrator of the Kidderminster Harriers Sport Network site - views on relegations and hope of survival. Over the past few days, I have been conducting an interview with Scott Jones, the administrator of the Kiddermister Harriers Sport Network site. Here are his views on relegation and survival.

MJ: Firstly, do you think that Kidderminster can avoid the drop down to non-league football, if so, which team do you think will go down in their place?

SJ: This is a question I’m hearing all the time now. It’s a tough question to answer as you can never predict football. From a team struggling in the football league they don’t seem to be fighting much. If any team was to go down instead of us it will be rushden. To be honest, it will be non-league for Kidderminster next season.


MJ: Having recently beat Kidderminster 2-0; do you think Chester can avoid the drop?

SJ: With Chester, at the time of writing this sitting in 21st place 12 points clear of Kidderminster who sit on top of the relegation zone I believe they are fairly safe. Kidderminster and Rushden are both loosing more than there winning at the moment so can’t see either of them catching Chester up.


MJ: You’ve still got some tough games to come, but there are some which you can win. What are the chances of you winning these to stay up?

SJ: We need seven out of a possible 36 points to come level with Rushden or eight to go ahead. This means though although that isn’t many points we need Rushden to loose as many as possible. We have a few hard games left but those are the one’s Harriers seem to win.


MJ: What are Kidderminster’s chances of staying up

SJ: Well I’m no bookie but I’d say 5/1


MJ: How have Kidderminster played in their games? i.e.) Have they ever looked like they could win the game, but have missed their chances?

SJ: That’s the whole story for Kidderminster. We very often look like winning a game. To many times this season I’ve seen Harriers winning with ten minutes to go and end up loosing. We also have the problem where we have great play and good crosses but there’s never anyone there in the box to pick them up.


MJ: Last year Carlisle went down and have a good chance of coming straight back up again. Could Kidderminster bounce back first season?

SJ: Harriers manager Stuart Watkiss has come in late and had no money but has still made an improvement in the squad. Give Watkiss time next season and I believe he could turn it all around. Going to conference is always hard as players want league football and very often leave.


MJ: Against Shrewsbury 9 days ago, you lost 4-2 having been 2-0 up, is that the end of the road?

SJ: I believe we could still come back as rushden only drew that day. The Tuesday after though we drew to Bristol Rovers when we should’ve beat them and rushden won 3-0. That was the end of the road for me.
