Chop scores as Costa Rica bow out

Paulo Wanchope grabbed his first World Cup goal but it wasn’t enough as Costa Rica went down 5-2 to Brazil.

In probably the most entertaining game of the tournament to date, Wanchope scored Costa Rica’s first goal to pull the score back to 3-1. Paulo also went close in the second half, hitting the angle of crossbar and post from a tight angle.

Wanchope will now join Sun Jihai and Lucien Mettomo in returning home to look forward to the Premiership whilst Niclas Jensen prepares for Saturday’s clash with England and Richard Dunne watches on against Spain.
