Gunner keown linked with City

Reports on The Guardian web site claim that City are to come in with a late bid for Arsenal defender Martin Keown. The speculation comes after Keown turned down a one year contract extension.

As another player becomes available so Manchester City find themselves linked with him.

Arsenal and England central defender Martin Keown, has apparently refused the one year contract extension that was offered to him by the Gunners. The refusal has naturally sparked interest in the 35 year old central defender, with Newcastle said to be leading the pack.

The Guardian web site is reporting that City may come in with a late offer when the player returns from England duty in Japan. Whether there is any foundation to this speculation remains to be seen after Keegan himself yesterday stated that he only wishes to bring in one more player, that player is thought to be Marc-Vivien Foe not Martin Keown.

The jury is out on this rumour, let’s just wait and see.
