Horlock in NI squad

Kevin Horlock is called up to the Northern Ireland squad for the European Championship qualifier game against Cyprus. Horlock is one of four blues to be called up for their national squads this week.

Kevin Horlock is the 4th City player to be called up for International duty this week.

Horlock is part of the Northern Ireland squad that takes on Cyprus at Windsor Park on Wednesday 21st August.

The call up comes as Kevin Keegan looks to extend Horlock’s Maine Road contract. Keegan told the official site that he is a big fan of Horlock who has only one year remaining on his current deal. Whether Horlock will be a permanent feature in this season’s team though is a different matter. Keegan has talked about moving Marc-Vivien Foe into defence to accommodate Horlock in midfield but somehow you can’t see it happening. One thing is for sure though, Horlock will rise to the challenge, as he did last season, and push Foe all the way for the midfield holding role.

The other three City players called up this week were Niclas Jensen (Denmark), Eyal Berkovic (Israel) and Richard Dunne (Republic of Ireland).
