Premier League-bound Burnley recorded their fifteenth home league win of the season as Turf Moor turned up for a promotion party.

Michael Kightly scored in his third consecutive game to hand the Clarets a narrow victory over play-off hopefuls Ipswich Town in the final home game of this remarkable and unforgettable campaign.
Burnley now know they will have averaged at least two points per match this Championship season; a statistic they could still improve upon when they travel to face Reading at the Madejski Stadium next weekend to round off the campaign. It was a landmark fixture for the Clarets as the players wore special replica shirts commemorating the 100th anniversary of the FA Cup triumph at the Crystal Palace Grounds against Liverpool back on April 25, 1914.
And Sean Dyche made no changes to the starting eleven that clinched promotion back to the Premier League with an ever-to-be-remembered 2-0 victory over Wigan Athletic on Easter Monday. Meanwhile, the visitors lined up in a similar 4-4-1-1 formation.
Burnley could have taken the lead after just sixty seconds when Danny Ings linked up with Scott Arfield inside the box only for the Scot’s effort to be deflected behind for a corner.
On nine minutes, Daryl Murphy had Ipswich’s first shot of the game, but his attempt was well blocked by Ben Mee.
Shortly afterwards, Kieran Trippier picked out Ings on the shoulder of Christophe Berra. The Clarets number 10 knocked the ball down in the direction of Ashley Barnes who went inches away from applying the final touch from close range.
In response, Jonathan Williams’ tame strike never troubled Tom Heaton in the Burnley goal.
Trippier was involved again on 20 minutes when Barnes controlled a ball over the top from the right-back inside the opposition penalty area. Ipswich managed to clear the danger in the nick of time, though.
Seven minutes later, Trippier had to head the ball nearly off the goal line after Tommy Smith had directed his header from a set piece goalwards.

Its going to feel strange tomorrow with no pressure on to get a result for nervous phuckers like me.. Will be able to watch it and just relax,no biting nails, switching radio/tele off when t'other side looks/sounds like scoring.. Didn't listen to the Wigan match as the last match i listened to against Boro we lost.... When im online and trying to find the score out on the sporting life website,i always cover Burnleys score up and look at the other teams first for a big fat round Zero..phuckin sad really..

I usually listen to Clarets Player, but a couple of times I've had to follow by other means. NNN live updates are death for me - last one was the 'boro game - won't be using that feed anymore as we have never won when I've used it.
Also, I am so relaxed about tomorrow that I won't even be getting up at 4:00am to listen like I had to for them down t'road and Leicester.

if we win - Great ... if we draw or lose, I just want to know why, we're they lucky - we're we poor...fair score, bad ref ...etc etc, so if I do get p*ssed off, it's after, when I have the reason.

My good lady wife said as much earlier today Alfie......but I want the win, it is the honorable and only way to go tomorrow and our final game. We owe it to all those who still have something to play for. We would want and expect the same if we still needed results.We have gained a great deal of respect and friends this season and you never know when you will need friends in the future.Relentless......do it.

No nerves since about September, I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy, and will be fine with defeat, strangely.

from a betting perspective its a strange one.
Burnley 5/4 Ipswich 11/4 the draw 23/10 with paddypower and
Burnley 5/4 Ipswich 21/10 the draw 5/2 with Betfred.
Seems the bookies aren't sure which Burnley side will turn up and have them just favourites for the win, but not a great deal bewteen all three prices for the result, think I will take the draw at 5/2 with Betfred.

Cracking first five minutes, rather slower next 40. Danny Ings will get one soon as he is clearly frustrated not to have put one away already. Never really looked like losing and did what was needed, as we've done all season.
I like the Dyche attitude and ways.....none of this soft sh*te we're up who cares thinking.A great winner and a class loser. Kightly......hope that lad signs. What a team what a season.
I'd be shocked if we didn't sign him. He's not half got some @#$%& this season at times, but one of our most important players.
We didn't even break sweat and beat a side fighting to get into the play-offs.

Quite a few astute pundits putting Wigan up as a good bet against us last Monday, apparently we were going to 'stagger' over the line. Same today, Ipswich were a sound bet to turn us over, we'd do a Leicester, and Ipswich going for the play-offs, would nick the points.
More egg on more faces, they just never learn do they. This summer these same astute pundits will be telling us what a certainty we are to go straight back down, and there'll be more egg all over the place by the end of the season because we won't be going back down, and I doubt it'll even be close.

Wigan lost 0-2 at home to Blackpool today. Barstewards on a bit of a roll, be good to see their hearts break after a glimmer of hope.
Anyone know why Heaton had black shorts on today?

I assumed it must have been because our keeper wore black shorts in the 1914 Cup Final, but not sure that's right.

That's what I thought but then assumed they'd have worn a green top as well?
Maybe it just wasn't worth designing one for just this game.

Not me CW, I was only little and my dad had lifted me over the wall so I could see, but I was sat way off to the left.
Couple of points on that photo, I thought we played with the Royal Crest or something on our shirts, but I can't see any sort of badge or crest on those shirts.
The other is that I thought playing with your shirt out of your shorts was a scruffy, untidy modern phenomenom, I don't recall seeing the likes of Jimmy Mac or Tom Finney with their shirts out. Most of these old timers have their shirts out though, scruffy old gits.
And these spectacular flat caps, why did they all wear them, and why were they so big ?

That would figure CW, I thought it also possible they wore them then they'd have something to touch, or even doff, when they met the mill owner. I think forelock touching had gone out of fashion by then.
