So after the international break the Clarets return to Turf Moor for the visit of Hull City, and the  man in the middle will be Andy Penn. Penn last officiated the Clarets last season for our 3-0 Carling Cup victory against Barnsley.

On that occasion he issued two cautions, Kay for the away side and Branch for the Clarets. If he has a repeat performance on Saturday then there will be no complaints as Penn let the game flow brilliantly as both teams were willing to get on with the game.

His other two matches refereeing the Clarets have both been away from Turf Moor, at Reading’s Madejski Stadium. Again on both occasions there were no problems with Penn’s performance as both games ended in draws.

Penn in his three previous Burnley games has issued just the six cautions, and this does appear to be the trend from this referee. Last season he issued just 67 yellow cards from 30 matches, and he only dismissed one player, Paul Edwards from Oldham.

So far this season Penn has refereed 6 matches and has issued 17 yellow cards. He has also dismissed Danny Jackman of Gillingham. Of those 6 matches one has been at Championship level and that was Norwich City’s 3-2 win over Luton.

Penn will be assisted by Mr. Mark Astley and Mr. John Stokes, the 4^th official will be Karl Evans.
