Well this is of course If all goes well, apparently the Evening Leader understand, it will go ahead possibly tomorrow. Last night the Leader exclusively said the way was being paved for Rhodes to leave the club in the next 48 hours.

Red Dragons chairman Mark Guterman, has left the door open for Rhodes to leave with some dignity - and a golden handshake.

Details of what is on offer remain between Guterman and Rhodes, whose pending departure – and getting promoted to the first division – is the talk of the town.

David Rhodes has been at Wrexham’s helm for twenty years. During that time he has steered them through troubled times and also through glory days in Europe and the FA Cup. But his reign at The Racecourse now seems all but over and he has the chance of walking through the door - or possibly being pushed.
 

The deal being offered by Guterman is likely to include a cash pay-out. Rhodes will probably also be allowed to keep his club car for a while.

He can, of course, refuse the offer and take the club to a tribunal. But Guterman’s decision would at least save him from the inevitable mud-slinging tribunals tend to produce. Rhodes, who lives in Rhos-on-Sea, is married and has both a son and a daughter. He was off work yesterday and today because of feeling unwell.

Millionaire John Reames, the former chairman of Lincoln City, is coming into The Racecourse to offer advice and his experience. He and Guterman go back a long way, but Reames has no intention of becoming involved long-term at Wrexham. So maybe Rhodes' departure is what Reames has been waiting for.

Bill Wingrove, who was Guterman’s right-hand man at Chester City, is currently commercial director at Wrexham. He may be offered a chance to join the board of directors if Guterman’s shake-up goes ahead. Wingrove is popular with the players and fans.
Meanwhile, manager Denis Smith today enjoyed his last day of a short break in Portugal.
