Forest hitman David Johnson has vowed to stay at the City Ground for quite a while yet, adding he loves the club and would sign a new contract if offered tommorow. On fire Striker David Johnson has brushed aside any speculation about a possible move from Nottingham Forest by saying he wants to sign a new contract with the club

After boss Paul Hart confirmed Johnson was not for sale the 20 goal striker said: "That's good. Hopefully, I can get a new contract. I would like to stay here.

"I'm settled now and my family live in Nottingham. They are exciting times here.

"We're like the Ipswich team who got promoted (to the Premiership). We have a great blend of young and old and the atmosphere is brilliant.

"I don't know how many goals I can get. I have not got a clue.

I would like to think I can get a few more and, hopefully, keep us in the top six.

"That's what it is all about, it isn't about myself. It would be a great achievement for Forest."

Johnson, whose double blast took his tally to 20 for the campaign, predicted his former team will reach the play-offs along with Forest.

"The manager asked me what Ipswich were like and I said we would be playing ourselves. They kept the ball better than us.

"We set out to get three points and if I got on the scoresheet, then great.

"We punished them, but I thought they were very good. They didn't create many chances against us until we were 2-0 up.

"I am sure they can get a run going and I think they can still get in the top six. Just look at Reading. Ipswich can do that.

"Every time we win so do the others and there's no gap. We have to keep ourselves on our toes because, if we had lost, there was a danger we would have dropped out of the top six. That's not what we want."
