"The Men With The Educated Feet" edited by F. H. C. Robertson (QPSA 1984 & 1995) and updated by H. S. Cook (QPFC 1992)
Unlike the Richard Robinson and Bob Crampsey books, "The Men With The Educated Feet" has little by way of storyline as it is a statistical and pictorial book detailing results and line-ups of all Queen's competitive matches.
Those visitors to the Glasgow Room of the Mitchell Library during the winter of 1983
may well have wondered why so many young men were simultaneously taking an interest in
newspaper cuttings of the previous hundred odd years. Little would they realise that these
were members of the Queen's Park Supporters Association who were assisting Forrest
Robertson with statistical research to compile a virtually complete record of the results,
teams and scorers of every competitive game played in the Club's history.
Due to limited funding, the first (November 1984) and second (January 1985) editions were
of basic quality but still fulfilled their function of providing supporters with a
detailed statistical history of the Club's fortunes. The Club themselves decided to
publish a third and revised edition in December 1992 and this time little expense was
spared in the production of this most recent version. The photos had been enhanced where
necessary by the latest (at that time) in computer technology and the print was clear and
easy to follow.
It contains fifty group photos (forty-seven first team, one Strollers XI and two
Committee) as well as five appendices of compiled information to satisfy the appetite of
even the most dedicated of anoraks.
Although now almost ten years out of date, it is still a remarkable reference book and
copies are still available on match days from the Club Shop together with summaries of
subsequent seasons (provided by queensparkspiders.co.uk).
