YORK City today announced its latest recruit to the football club's new board of directors.

Chartered accountant Terry Doyle, 49, will be taking on the role as the club's new financial director.

Doyle is a partner of York based-firm Clive Owen and Co and has over 25 years experience in chartered accountancy practice.

He is also a director of computer company RedBlack Software Limited and a financial services company, Coniscliffe Financial Planning Limited.

A committed City fan, Doyle has been following the club for 37 years, having watched his first game in 1966 when the Minstermen beat Southport 2-0.

He also once went more than seven years without missing a home and away game and has spent the last few years as chairman of the club's Vice Presidents' Association.

Welcoming Doyle to the board, chairman Steve Beck said: "Having an experienced finance director is imperative in order to ensure a stable financial basis for future operations of the club.

"Terry is well respected by both the company's bankers and the wider business community, and will undoubtedly be an asset to the board."

Doyle said: "I am delighted to be appointed as the club's new financial director. The board and I have a difficult task ahead addressing the financial position of the club, but I am looking forward to the challenge.

"As a York City supporter, it is a privilege to be able to make a positive contribution to the club in this bright new era."

Doyle's appointment was ratified by the board of the Supporters' Trust and means the football club has a board of six directors - Beck and Doyle, marketing and IT director Mike Brown, communications director Sophie McGill, stadium development director Ian McAndrew and commercial director Jason McGill.
