Darren Ward has been the first choice shot-stopper at The City Ground for a few seasons now, but with the arrival of Paul Gerrard, who is one of the finest this division has to offer- he could find himself sitting on the bench for much of next season. With "Wardy" possessing so much quality himself, however, it seems that this would not be his ideal role.

Gerrard received a contract offer from the Yorkshire club, previously, but he decided that his preferred destination was Nottingham Forest Football Club. Leeds' first choice 'keeper Paul Robinson departed earlier in the close season and now they are in desperate need of a replacement.

Apparently the bid form Leeds is one in the region of £400,000 and it has been suggested that Kinnear will be using this money in order to make a revamped bid for Everton's Leon Osman.
