It was a grand end to a glorious season. Nottingham Forest may have not reached the success of last years domestic season in which they won the Old First Division, but an arguably bigger prize was at stake on this fine evening in Munich as Forest prepared to take on FC Malmo.

The Reds came into the game as favourites and were confident that winning this prestigious tournement was no longer just a pipe dream. In the last few seasons the reds had come far. They had finished the season second in England's top flight despite being a mediocre-poor second division team when 'Ol' big 'ed!' Brian Clough took charge at The City Ground.

The Trickies brought a strong team with them to Munich and thousands of fans were there to witness this piece of history. The players that were lucky enough to have taken part that night (and indeed all season) were all heroes. The ones lucky enough to have taken part against Malmo will remember, and cherish this day for the rest of their life.
