Montrose defeat Queen's Park 1-0 in the first home league game of the season. Kevin Webster scores with a fine header from Chris Webster's cross. Queen's Park pushed Montrose back into defence for the first 15 minutes of the game. They would have gone one up were it not for a superb point-blank save by Gary McGlynn. Fortunately, Montrose then began to settle, and in 23 minutes, Kevin Webster rose in the box to brilliantly head home a pinpoint Chris Webster cross for the opener. Montrose maintained the pressure until half-time with no further scoring.

Montrose picked up where they left off in the second half and mounted numerous chances. Unfortunately we were unable to convert any, although we did hit the bar in the later stages. McKinnon also missed a sitter from a poor defensive clearance but ballooned it over the bar. Perhaps when Gilzean and Kerrigan return, we will regain a bit of punch up front. it was clear, however, that Queen's are a much better side than in recent times.

Montrose go into 5th spot on goal difference from the 2 other teams on 4 points. East Fife are on top on goal difference from Albion Rovers.
